Amplify Love, Dissipate Hate

Filed under: My Day — by Hank @ 6:24 pm

There’s this turnstile on the NYC subway at Park Place (which sounds like a Monopoly stop, but it’s an actual stop on the 2 train).  It’s one of those floor-to-ceiling turnstiles with lots of curved arms, almost like a Dali-designed revolving door.  Unless you’ve been in the NYC subway, it’s hard to explain.

Anyway, on one of the arms of that turnstile, someone put up a little sticker: “Amplify love, dissipate hate.”  Every day as I exit from that turnstile, I think to myself, “am I getting the sticker today?”  I have a 1 in 3 change, after all.

Today the person in front of me got the sticker.  I got some dirty smeared thing.

But with a forecast of low 70s and sunny for the entire weekend, how could I be upset over anything at all?  Sun!  Yeah!

Of course, that whole “amplify love, dissipate hate” thing sends me off on a rant, but I just don’t have time to write about it now.  Maybe later.

My Homage to Valancy Jane

Filed under: Blogging, Other Bloggers — by Hank @ 9:28 pm

Moving to WordPress, just like VJ. Who knows if anyone will follow me? Of course, that assumes that anyone was looking to begin with.

Truth to tell, I used to be much more into blogging: I had quite a readership, way back in the day. Regular commenters, the whole thing. Then I got a real job, and poof!, there went all my blogging time. I had my own domain, my own specialized theme. The whole shebang.

I feel a little like an old prizefighter (not the heavyweight champ or anything, I’m not Glenn Reynolds) who “retired,” then came back into the ring, but had to start all over. Yeah, just like that.

I’d put the odds of my sticking with the blog long-term at near zero. But you never know.

Can you handle the suspense?
